Baby Boomers and Internet Business

Thursday, January 7th, 2010

Did you know that there are over 78 million Baby Boomers in the United States and 19 million in the United Kingdom and millions more all over the world.

Baby Boomers are a diverse and multi faceted group that covers a vast range of life experiences and interests.

Their financial situation also varies, but a large number have had a typical lifestyle of, dare I say it, the husband with the career and the wife either staying at home looking after the children or having a part time job.

Some of course are in my own situation of having worked all my life but now realising that as I go into my fifties, I am not looking forward to a comfortable retirement.

Children leaving home, divorce, redundancy can often be a reason to look again at your lifestyle and financial situation. This can lead to a career change. Some people train for something completely different to what they have done before hoping to be able to get a position in todays difficult employment market. Some start their own business with whatever capital they have.

Whatever business they are going into they are more than likely having to deal with computers and the internet. This as I know, can be a painful experience. But also a very rewarding one. The internet can open your eyes to situations not considered before and online marketing is one that many Baby Boomers are looking into.

Unfortunately, some people involve themselves with these online ventures without researching them properly and spend their well earned money on schemes and businesses that they cannot hope to achieve in because of lack of knowledge and training.

They wouldn’t expect to take on a new line of business without training in the offline world so why would they online.

I will be honest, I made that mistake as well before I decided to take online business seriously and research the market properly.

So for all you Baby Boomers out there, get into Online Business by all means but make sure you choose the right one and get all the training you can. Then you might be surprised how well you can do. The world is your oyster go out their and claim what is rightfully yours.

I am an Internet Marketer in my fifties and as a Internet Business Consultant am looking to help people with their online future.

How Seniors Can Benefit From a Power Scooter

Thursday, January 7th, 2010

Do you have difficulty moving around your home? Having trouble getting the morning paper? These are questions that if you answered yes then maybe you could benefit with a power wheelchair or scooter. An electric wheelchair will give you the chance to regain your independence by returning your mobility to you control. There are many benefits that come with a power wheelchair.

How can I benefit with a new power scooter or wheelchair?

· Power scooters give individuals the freedom to move around without assistance.

· Being able to move around with little or no physical exertion. Maybe you have a physical disability that limits your mobility. A power scooter will allow you the freedom to move around as you please.

· If you have a manual wheelchair and it is taking its toll on you then maybe an electric wheelchair is the answer. Some users of manual chairs need a break from the physical strain.

Power wheelchairs vs. Manual Wheelchairs

The choice of manual wheelchair or power scooter can sometimes be easy if you are forced in one direction or the other. Sometimes your physical or financial restraints will decide for you. Speaking to your doctor or professional who will help you determine your needs when it comes deciding on a power wheelchair. Do you have friends that have purchased or used a motorized wheelchair, they might be able to help you decide on if you need a power chair and which one to purchase.

Users of motorized wheelchairs sometimes have limited power in their arms or torso and require the use of a power wheelchair. Power scooters are powered by a battery that needs to be recharged often. The weight of the chair is greatly increased over that of the manual wheelchair. This is due to the fact the power wheelchair houses the weight of the battery and motor.

If you decide that you do indeed require a power wheelchair you should find out if you qualify for a free or low cost power scooter. A quick internet search will bring up different companies that sell power chairs and they have experts on hand that will fill out all the necessary paperwork. They will even decide it you qualify for Medicare and thus you might qualify for a free or low cost power chair.

Baby Boomers and Retirement

Thursday, January 7th, 2010

First of all what are baby boomers? One of the features of Boomers was that they tended to think of themselves as a special generation, very different from those that had come before them. They are the generation that was born between 1946 and 1964. In 2006 the oldest of the baby boomers turned Sixty. There are around 298 million now. Celebrities like, Cher, Donald Trump and Sylvester Stallone are all baby boomers.

Baby boomers have changed the way it use to be to grow old. Their healthier than their parents, better educated and living a lot longer. This longer life has given them a chance to reinvent themselves and accomplish anything they want to in life. Even though some of them have already retired, they continue to work. Working a part time job, an internet home business, or even helping train others in what their skill was before they went into retirement. Their life has become one of work, leisure and family.

Forbes magazine wrote that, baby boomers have identified themselves as “youth” and are not letting go. So boomers will find new careers and hobbies and volunteer. They are a big part of secular spiritualism, a growing rejection of materialism. People are embracing the notion that the American dream is measured in spiritual, not material, fulfillment.

A report also states that 60% of boomers are now interested in the internet. They are all on social media sites creating content on blogs, in videos, on pod casts, and different forums. They are not as active as the younger generation yet, but because of retirement more and more are becoming very active. Baby boomers make up at least a third of the work force. They are also among the most aggressive and creative workers out there. There will be certain industries and professions that will be hit really hard as most of them will be hitting retirement soon.

Many baby boomers are retiring early, because of the recession, and that is pushing them to find alternatives. The coming of the boomers retiring will be in the millions. With no one knowing how much longer there will be a Social Security fund, they are turning to the world wide web searching to find jobs, more friends, and other internet home businesses to keep them going strong in their retirement years.

Baby boomers are not quitters, they will find alternatives if their retirement does not provide for them what they are accustomed to. With more and more of them on the internet the percentage has increased for them to have an internet home business to replenish their retirement fund.

Baby Boomer Memories – The Holidays Are Here!

Thursday, January 7th, 2010

It’s time. The holidays are here again. Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years have staked claims on the calendar and so many times they have staked claims on our hearts with great memories.

The season is full of joy as families and friends get together to share good food, discuss old times, sometimes drink too much, and enjoy each others company.

I once heard a speaker discuss family relationships and how to improve them. He begged the audience to get involved with children and other family members by making things happen. Don’t sit around and wait. His favorite phrase that he uttered often was “Go make some memories.” Celebrate life (especially the holidays) by getting together for special occasions and holidays and then make some great memories.

The memories for Baby Boomers might be even more poignant. By this time we have experienced at least 50 years worth of these special occasions. That’s a lot of remembering. It is, of course, inevitable that some family members and friends are no longer with us (makes it tough to get through “Auld Lang Syne,” doesn’t it?).

However, our wonderful memories of those that are gone over shadow the feelings of loss. Now we can make new memories with our children and their spouses, our grandchildren, our living parents, and close friends.

It’s time again for holiday music, eggnog, putting up decorations, sending cards that say you care. It’s time to tell everyone you see “Merry Christmas!” and really mean it. It’s time to watch “A Christmas Story” waiting for Ralphie to get his BB gun. And, it’s time to watch for the 100th time “It’s a Wonderful Life” and realize you are the luckiest person alive.

It’s time to enjoy the season. Go make some memories.

Over 50 and Lonely? Join an Over 50’s Chat Site and Build Genuine, Worldwide Friendships

Thursday, January 7th, 2010

It was in the early nineties that the concept of chat rooms really began to take off. Along with the novelty of chatting with someone from halfway across the globe, suddenly erupted a fear that such people would try to take advantage of the individuals that were enjoying this brand new communication medium. Such fears were well founded as scam artists, pedophiles and hackers soon found their way into this vast network. I’m not trying to scare you, I am simply educating you on the facts.

You might believe that teenagers and young adults are the only ones who are able to enjoy this method of communication. After all, this technology was made for the younger generation, was it not? Well perhaps it was, but every effort has been made to render it enjoyable for seniors over 50. Specific chat rooms have been set aside for seniors so that they too can enjoy chatting with others around the world.

The biggest problem is that seniors tend to be a little more free with their personal information. No one can blame them, they grew up in a time when identity theft was a lot more complicated. Now that it has become so much easier, how can seniors protect themselves from those unscrupulous individuals?

There are a few important safety guidelines that you will need to take into account if you are a senior and using a chat room. First of all, you need to hide your personal information from the public view. This information could be your real name, your date of birth, where you live, anything of that nature. Then you have private messages to worry about. Even if the private chat is with someone you know, you really need to keep that information private!

Why exactly? Well, chatting in a chatroom is much different from chatting on an instant messenger. It can be quite easy for someone to impersonate someone that you know and drag information out of you. For this reason you will need to be extremely careful with what information you give out and why. Now if you want, you could always try a few different rooms. There are some very safe, very secure chat locations for seniors to visit. Most of these are completely free and offer a great experience.

One of the best locations for anybody over 50 is a site named Senior Chatters, which is located at seniorchatters.co.uk. There you’ll find safe senior chat rooms for anybody of seniority to enjoy and build lasting, genuine worldwide senior pen pals. Spaces are limited, so visit today and start making new friends.
