The iPad, Truly the Next Generation of Technology

Saturday, April 24th, 2010

For years the world speculated whether or not Apple Inc. was going to release a tablet computer. Rumors ran rampant if even Apple was developing a product like that or not. Then in April 2010, Apple shocked the world with the release of the revolutionary device. The Apple iPad introduces a brand new way of doing things on a tablet computer, instead of a traditional stylus, the iPad is completely controlled by a users finger. Comes with a beautiful large screen, and can even double as a e-book reader. The question is whether this product is worth the wait, or just another hyped up piece of technology people say we should buy? Let me tell you my friends, this is the real deal!

After being available for pre-order in early March 2010, the world was eagerly waiting to get their hands on the brand new device. During its opening weekend release, the Apple iPad sold over 700,000 units! Very impressive figures considering most people did not exactly know all the device could do. What makes the iPad revolutionary is the multi-touch interface it has built in. Everyone knows good and well how to use their hands and thats all the prior knowledge you will need in order to manipulate the device. Apple took the software platform they perfected touchscreen interface with from the iPhone, and up scaled it to the iPad. The tablet looks amazing with a very sleek and simple design. The screen takes up just about all of the front besides the Home button, and the back seems to be crafted well out of aluminum. The device weighs in at about 1.5lbs and does not feel cheap at all, a staple in Apple production, it feels durable, but at the same time light enough to carry at any angle. The screen though is the main focal point of the iPad coming in a beautiful 9.7 inch LED back lit IPS. The colors are vibrant and very pleasing to the eyes. Apple has toted this device as an E-book killer. Meaning once you read a book on the iPad, you will not want to do it any where else. And by all means its very true, you can adjust the brightness on the fly depending on your personal preference and the text shows up well on the big screen.

If you aren’t familiar with “apps”, these are the applications that Apple along with many other 3rd party developers create for Apple products. But why buy an ipad when you can get a free iPad? Right out of the box the iPad can run just about all of the 150,000 apps currently available for the iPhone and iPad Touch. Truly something for everyone. Along with many special apps developed just for the iPad, these apps are the REASON you will want to get your paws onto the iPad. From Google Maps to watching streaming movies from Netflix, this device seems to do almost everything your computer can do, all while in a portable shell that’s a visual masterpiece. One cool App comes from Marvel Entertainment with their app that allows you to view eye-candy rich graphic novels and comics that almost play like a movie. The iPad might not be a laptop replacement for everyone, but if you are like most internet users out here who mostly surf the web, listen to music, catch up on news, and play games online, this is the device for you. The best entertainment experience you can have that is portable, trust me.

If you are in the market for a iPad, consider getting a free iPad. Free iPads are available now!.

Keyboard Keys Not Working on Laptop? How to Replace Keyboard

Saturday, April 24th, 2010

Some of your keyboard keys not working on your laptop what could possibly be the cause of this?

There are scenarios where your keyboard keys stop working on your laptop and you may be thinking of getting a replacement however this should not be your first choice whenever this arises. There can be several reasons why you keyboard keys are not working such as:

· The membrane could be damage located underneath the keys

· It can be a broken trace (printed wire)

· Particles may be lodge underneath the keys

· Keyboard connector may be loose

Damage membrane

The membrane is located under the keys of the keyboard which is a rubber mould which tempers the keys whenever it is press. This can be damage when extensive pressure is applied to any of they keys or it could be worn over a long period. If this is the case the membrane can be purchase at local computer stores or visit online store. In order to ascertain that this is the cause of the problem you can remove the key and observe the membrane if it stays down when pressure is applied.

Broken Trace

The trace is the printed wire which is very delicate and can also be damage when too much pressure is applied to the keyboard. In order to determine if there is a broken trace you will need to have a millimeter to trace the circuit and if there is a good trace then there will be resistance, if the trace is broken then there will be not resistance. The broken trace can be repaired if you are willing to do so or you can get a replacement keyboard.

Dirty Keyboard

Building Robots For First Time – 2 Advices You Really Need

Saturday, April 24th, 2010

Today we will talk about building robots for the beginners. There are common pitfalls for the first timers. I know, because I had spent and wasted countless hours due to these mistakes. And so you should discover and learn from my mistakes in this article. It is really helpful once you know what to do and not to do.

1. Plan

Plan every single little thing. No matter how minute, do it. This is the backbone of any robotic project. Yes, it is that important. Why? Try constructing something without planning. And it is almost guaranteed that the particular construction will fail. Personally, in the past, I had wasted hundreds of man hours and money when I did not plan things properly. For example, getting a list of hardware and electronics components. What happens when building the circuit halfway, you find out that a few or even one component is missing? Then you have scramble off to get the component. Once is understandable, but repeat this mistake, and you will waste both time and money. Not to mention effort or double work.

2. Execute

Once you know what to do and buy, the next most important step is to execute those plans. Unless you would want to be like the thinking man statue in Italy, take action now. In this phase, doing the actual work based on all the careful planning is more beneficial than say, stopping halfway and rethink the plan. Complete a single task intended as outlined in the plan earlier.

In conclusion, these are the two things that should be emphasized every day. In other words, plan with all your heart and execute them mercilessly. Maximum effort should be put into these two points.

Can Windows 7 Rebound the PC Industry and IT Expenditure?

Saturday, April 24th, 2010

After two years of global downturn, the economy is slowly climbing back to stability. However, with the global launch of Microsoft’s new operating system Windows 7, the PC and chip segments are likely to gain some ground with better sales and increased revenues via new products based on the operating system.

After the severe failure with Windows Vista, many customers had downgraded their PCs back to the Microsoft’s eight year old operating system, Windows XP. Windows Vista was launched in 2006, but was pounded by users due to its slow boot times, device driver incompatibilities and other problems.

Since June, various computer vendors have been offering free Windows 7 upgrades to all its customers who bought computers pre-installed with Windows Vista, but some customers have decided to wait. However, with the new operating system, the software giant has remained successful in creating positive vibes and also enterprises have shown lot of interest in the next operating system.

High hopes from Windows 7

It is also assumed that people around the world are waiting for the next version to launch in the market so that they can have the new operating system in hand without doing any up gradation effort. The success and hype of Windows 7 can be accessed through the statement from Amazon, which says that Windows 7 has overtaken Harry Potter novels and the Nintendo Wii to become the biggest grossing pre-order product of all time in the UK.

Further, the new operating system could play an encouraging role in driving professional PC purchases. Hence, the demand for new PCs and IT infrastructure up gradation would certainly boost the PC industry.

David Daoud, research manager of IDC said that there will be potential rise in the sale of any new launch, after that it returns back to normal mode, which tends to be on the corporate side. IDC recently reported that in Q3 the global PC shipments grew by 2.3 percent year-over-year to 78.1 million units after three consecutive quarters of flat sales. The firm expects PC shipment growth of about 9 percent in 2010. The growth in PC shipments will have a positive impact on the semiconductor industry.

Analysts also suggest that the real impact of Windows 7 launch on PC market will be felt by 2010, once upgrades and other inventory requirements are revealed more clearly. The new operating system launched is a major upgrade and may force many to upgrade their existing hardware. Earlier, Gartner had suggested various enterprises to wait until Windows 7 SP1 before going for any up gradation plans. But recently, the research firm said that despite enterprise compassion for the dependable Windows XP, the new operating system will see significant business adoption in 2010 due to both age and the timing of PC hardware upgrade cycles for Windows XP.

Conclusion

According to various analysts, there is a huge tail of XP in the market and Windows 7 is the great opportunity for all those people who declined to move to Vista. It is also reported that chip makers such as Intel and AMD have renovated their operations and added capacity in fabrication plants over the past two months to bear the extra demand for the new chips for Windows 7’s PCs.

Robust DGD150PWW DDS-4 Backup Tape by Sony

Saturday, April 24th, 2010

According to the findings of the business analysts, to excel in the respective business market, the organizations are dependent on their user and financial data. This means that availability of data is extremely important for every organization. Therefore the organizations must have a backup of their data to recover from any disastrous situation created due to data loss or theft.

Sony always comes with new innovative ideas and solutions to better serve its customers. Technological expertise of Sony has enabled the small sized DDS-4 tape cartridge to hold greater data amount of 20GB (native). Sony’s exclusive helical scan process allows high density recording in a cost effective manner. Part number of this tiny Sony DDS4 tape is DGD150PWW.

Sony DDS-4 tape has been optimized for outstanding durability, smooth tape-to-head contact and low ownership cost. The durability and media performance level of DDS-4 DGD150PWW backup tape has been raised with the incorporation of Sony’s exclusive high-cross linkage (HCL) binder. The HCL binder assures tape longevity, and raises the resistance of tape media to bear the pressure of repeated use.

When the tape is being rolled onto the reel, the torque elevates along the diameter. The torque also affects the performance during the fast-rewind and forward searching processes. Therefore to overcome this problem, Sony has re-designed lower sheet, hubs and the lower shell of the DDS data tape cartridge. Redesigned lower shell has enhanced the robustness of the DDS-4 backup tape. That is why the recording media of DDS-4 DGD150PWW backup tape offers exceptional resistance to any kind of deformation caused by external stress.

Sony uses two textured sheets into which the tape reel is sandwiched. These textured sheets enable smooth and fast winding of tape reel. Sony has used a special hard plastic material for making the lid of DDS-4 tape cartridge. This provides protection to the tape against mechanical shocks or bumps. The tape reel of Sony DDS-4 DGD150PWW cartridge comprises of 2 coated layers. One is the non-magnetic layer and other is the ultra fine magnetic layer. Non-magnetic layer assists in stable tape traveling, as it makes the surface smoother. The other magnetic layer increases the strength and frequency of output signals.

Strong output signals are very helpful in high density recordings. DDS-4 drive can record compressed 20 GB information on small sized DDS-4 DGD150PWW backup tape. High speed DDS drives feature helical scan mechanism. DDS tape drives do not linearly record the data on the tape reel, but instead it diagonally records the data. Therefore the helical recording system of DDS tape format assists in ultra high density recordings at an affordable price. Magnetic particles’ size of Sony DDS-4 media is many times smaller than other backup tapes. The smaller size results in greater storage capacity, uniform tape surface and reduced tape thickness.
