Horse Racing Tips to Make a Winning Bet

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

Every horse racing enthusiast looks to place an accurate bet on a particular race. Since money is on stake, the bet you place should be a result of careful study of all the necessary parameters which affect the outcome of any given race. Horse race betting depends as much on research as it does on luck. Thus, with few basic tips in hand, you will be in a position to place sound bets.

Observe the Horse’s Performance

The horse’s previous races’ history is a good indicator for its performances in upcoming races. If a horse displays pure speed on the track and easily pulls away from the pack, then it’s sure to continue its winning streak for at least a few more races to come. On the other hand, a horse that jumps off to a good start, keeps good speed throughout, only to lose in the end is probably tired. Thus, bettors can create a chart history of horses and anticipate each one’s performance.

Checking For Odds

Odds play a great role in horse racing betting. For example, a horse whose odds keep lowering during the length of a day is surely doing well in training rounds. Those who can catch this sign in time will place heavy bets on that horse, significantly lowering the odds.

Track Surface

General track surfaces include either turf or dirt. Every horse has its strengths and weaknesses. Some may run faster on one surface but slid on the other. Knowledge of the horse’s track surface preferences can help predict its performance on a particular track.

Trainer and Jockey

Just like the horse’s credentials help determine the outcome of a race, horse betting also takes into account the jockey’s record. In fact, this feature also forms part of the latest horse racing systems available these days.

Track

Check if the horse you are contemplating to bet on is familiar with the track. It works in the bettor’s favor to place a bet on a horse that has competed on that track before or is a veteran to the track. There are good chances that horse will perform well there.

Placing Multiple Bets

Betting on different horses greatly increase your chances to win. Though a little costly, it works if you can determine how much each bet is going to pay out.

These are basic betting strategies which you can employ in horse racing. A little research, a little insight and a little luck- that’s the recipe for a winning bet.

Break the Ice With 10 Fingers

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

A fantastic game for getting to know a fresh group of new actors in acting class is called “10 fingers.” All the players get in a circle, holding all 10 fingers up in the air. One person at a time will start asking personal questions that take yes-no answers only; whoever cannot answer yes to a question, drops a finger. The last person with a finger left wins. This is a great ice breaker when you’re just starting out in an acting class and it’s a great way to get to know your potential stage partners and how they work.

Good questions are things like “I have a cat”, “I have never stolen anything” and so on. Take note of the kinds of questions people ask. That says a lot about their personalities as well as their answers!

This game is a great appetizer for another ice-breaking game called “Story Tellers” Everyone gets in a circle and one person picked at random starts telling a story. The instructor then points to another player at random who must finish the story without stumbling.

things can get pretty funny when playing this game. This is more of a warm-up and a way of getting to know others rather than a performing game.

This is also a great game to play at parties or any social gathering. This kind of game is a great way to eliminate pressure on people to get to know each other without things feeling awkward. What better way to break the ice than with 10 Fingers!

Online Casinos – Lets Talk Craps

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

Craps is a very popular game enjoyed by many people in online casinos. Craps is a dice game where bets are placed on the many different possible outcomes of dice rolled including betting on even and odd numbers, combinations of numbers, and how many of a certain number will appear. In North America, craps is the most popular casino game. Being at a craps table at the casinos on the Vegas strip is quite an experience, but you can still enjoy the craps experience in an online casino in your home where it is much quieter and much more relaxing.

So what is it that makes everyone love craps?

Perhaps it’s the sound of the dice hitting the table that gets everyone addicted to this delightful game – or maybe it’s the luck some player’s find themselves having when playing the game. Whatever the reason, one thing is for sure that craps is an addictive online casino game that brings in a lot of revenue to the providers of these casinos.

Now, let’s get to the basics of the game.

Craps uses two dice to be rolled in two rounds – the “point round” and the “come out round”. Craps can be played with as little as one player. Before each roll, you can make a pass line bet or a don’t pass bet. If you roll a 7 or 11, the pass line bet is one whereas rolling a 2, 3, or 12 can lose the game for you. Craps refers to a losing roll while Win refers to a winning roll. If the shooter wins, they are allowed another roll until they roll a losing combination. Here are some terms to help you better understand the game:

Shooter - the person who rolls the dice during their turn.
On a roll - the shooter is on a winning streak.
Crap out - occurs when Craps is rolled on the come out round.
Snake Eyes - when a player rolls double ones on their die resulting in a loss because of the sum of 2.
High roller - player who places large bets.
Come out roll - first roll of the dice and can be a win if it is a 7 or 11; any other number will establish the shooter’s point.
Point - totals of the first roll that is not a winning or losing sum.
Natural - another term for win.
Pass Line Bet - bet placed before the come out roll.
Don’t Pass Bet - alternative bet betting against the dice.
One Roll Bet - wagered on the next roll of the dice only.
Hi-Lo - betting that says the next roll will be a 2 or a 12 the lowest and highest possible rolls.

Craps is a very popular game that many people enjoy playing on online casinos. There is a lot of opportunity to win with craps. Players of the game tend to get addicted to playing craps because it is so much fun and is so easy to play. Craps games don’t last a long time either which is likely another reason people love to play.

Cantina’s Settling of Scores (1984)

A Shannon O’Day Story
Cantina’s Settling of Scores (1984)

“He (young Judge Finley) was nobody to me,” Cantina (Katherine) O’Day said.

“All right, all right,” Rutland Geer told her.

“Otis Mather wasn’t an O’Day anyhow. That’s why he had to die I suppose. It was as if one, then all the male O’Day’s had to go; no one to carry the name, and no room for Otis, and he was dating Mabel, and some folks took a disliking to that. Those folks down at the courthouse made sure of that, like a pack of wolves. If you’re going to do something about it, just watch yourself, and when the chance comes-take it!”

Rutland Geer was an uncle to Cantina O’Day, the brother-in-law to Mabel O’Day, Gus’ wife, who committed suicide a few years back. He had married Mabel’s sister. He was the one with the steel brace on his leg, broke it so bad in the Korean War, it could never heal properly, completely, the bones grew back crooked.

I knew about this planning to kill Judge Finley, I knew about this myself; I was almost thirteen-years old now. It was dark out the evening cousin Cantina came over to talk to dad on the subject of killing the young judge. We just finished supper where there came a knocking at the front door. She was mad as a hornet, the boxer Joe somebody had killed-Otis Wilder Mather, it was a strange justice, because he was set free, and the city of St. Paul had never taken it lightly, and we all figured it was because Finley was part of it all, part of the manslaughter of Otis. After the long courtroom wait, and death of Otis, Cantina, she finally had to get into the picture, the war for justice, right or wrong.

Finley was smart, we all knew that, he had gone to Harvard and he tried to organize support for his ruling-alarmed the jury, rigged the courthouse, so we all felt.

So when those tremendous two words came: “Not Guilty,” for Joe the boxer, we all knew what it might lead to. It was a big rounded butcher’s knife she carried in her right hand that convinced me, justice might be found. Then about that time pa heard me, told Ms Cantina “Hush!” but I heard enough to tell what was going to happen.

Cantina lived in the house her father and mamma once lived in, on Albemarle Street.

Finally dad had her sit down on the front porch and he got up right away to check on me, I had run into the privy, pretended I was busy inside. And he brought Cantina a ‘7UP,’ to refresh herself. I never thought she’d go through with it, but she did. Then I thought she would open a manhole for herself-and fall in it, but she didn’t, the detectives let her go. And Finley was dead, and I heard Cantina tell pa a month after the killing, she said, “I was so sure that I couldn’t do it, bear to wait to do it, and see it done, that by the time I did it, I was all ready running-ran past some janitor-just running, I heard the janitor say in passing, “Is that you Ms O’Day?” and still running while he was saying that, it was as if hornets were whizzing-a swarm of them, whizzing behind me.”

And then pa had her sit down and she drank another 7UP, but this time with some vodka in it-140 proof, homemade. She was scattered. But they never did charge her with a thing, not one thing, she lived about two miles from us, we lived out on West Larpenteur, by the Cemetery, in a little blue house.

Cantina was a good woman, everybody liked her-she must have been in her late twenties or early thirties, thereabouts. All the boys I knew would have loved to have kept her company. I hadn’t been born yet, when her pa Shannon O’Day died, back in 1967, heard he was a happy go lucky drunk, a hero type from the First World War; I heard he drank so much in those cornfields of his brother’s, he was buried with it. And more people than you would have thought, sent flowers, even old Judge Finley.

So they buried what was left of the young Judge Finley (stabbed several time I heard), and the “Elks Club,” did it free I heard, said “Goodbye my brother Finley,” and that was all of it.

Advantages of Seeing a Las Vegas Magician

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

When life throws you lemons, sell them for a ticket to Las Vegas! Sin city can be good for the soul when life seems to be taking a different path than you pictured. In the roller coaster we call life, it is only natural for people to flee reality if only for a few days. A Las Vegas Magician could be the medicine the doctor ordered. As Americans progress through their corporate lives, very few people remain happy every day. In fact, most Americans have to take a tiny pill to experience happiness.

Vitelli and other Las Vegas Magicians, who have the ability to turn that frown upside down, can easily resolve the problem. These magicians are trained to make people smile, laugh, and experience life. Americans work and sleep almost two thirds of their lives, leaving very little room for entertainment and joyful occasions. While some people enjoy what they do for a living, it is a shrinking segment. The fact is most Americans work to live rather than live to work.

When your life gets so bad you need to pretend you are someone famous, it’s time to go see a Las Vegas Magician. Whether you pretend to be a retro version of Elvis or the next American Idol, you need to take a sick day and head to the city of sinners. There is something about Las Vegas that melts tears and enables us to forget the woes of life. Of course, they will be waiting for you when you get back, however; clearing your mind for a weekend could be your cure for eternal happiness.

A Las Vegas Magician has the ability to transform your life for the better. A magician is a universal form of entertainment, thus it is something everyone can appreciate. Whether you are five or fifty – everyone can find the humor deep within. A great magician such as Vitelli can rejuvenate even the saddest souls. Sometimes when things don’t go our way, it is only natural to seek laughter. While psychologists will disagree, sometimes laughing can help us deal with tough times and situations.
