Dowsing is a technique that has been used since ancient times for locating hidden water wells, metals, and gemstones. A Y-shaped wooden twig or metal divining rods are used to guide dowsers to the location where water or earth objects can be found.
Nowadays, pendulum dowsing has become popular as a way to get accurate answers to questions. A pendulum is a crystal or metal weight on a chain. A dowser will ask a question and interpret the movement of the pendulum to obtain an accurate answer.
A pendulum is simply a tool for accessing your Higher Self. You already have the answers within you. The pendulum is used to access your Higher Self to discern answers.
Your Higher Self is your closest connection to The Great Spirit. You can refer to The Great Spirit as God, the Universe, or a Power Greater than Ourselves. It is absolute truth.
There are several important pendulum dowsing techniques that you can practice to achieve accurate answers to all your questions. As the saying goes, “practice makes perfect.” As you practice using your pendulum, you will become more comfortable with learning how to access your Higher Self.
1. Open Sacred Space
Before you begin to use your pendulum, it’s important that you are always a clear and perfect channel of The Great Spirit. When you open sacred space, you are creating a sacred space for yourself where only light and love can enter.
There are times when you may be unconsciously channeling energy that is not for your highest good. When you are a source of Light, darkness will be attracted to you, because we live in the world of duality. It’s important to stay connected to the Great Spirit and expel all energies that are not serving your highest good before you start dowsing.
Just before you start dowsing, you can say the following prayers to yourself or out loud:
I invoke the Great Spirit within me.
I am a clear and perfect channel.
The Great Spirit is my Guide.
The Great Spirit and I are One.
Clear me, Shield me. Protect me.
Then, invite your guides to come through to help you.
I invite the Great Spirit, my Higher Self, My Guides, and Angels to be present and to communicate with me through my pendulum.
2. Program Your Pendulum
Once you have opened sacred space, it is best to program your pendulum with answers. There are five basic answers that you can “program” into your pendulum.
• YES
• NO
• Research
• Clearing
• Ready Answer
YES and NO are the most basic answers.
Research means that you need to refine your question to achieve an accurate answer. Sometimes, your questions are too vague to answer, so you have to refine your questions through more research.
Clearing means that “something needs to clear” before you can get an accurate answer. Your clearing response is like using a broom to sweep out any misaligned energies before you begin.
Ready Answer means that your pendulum is ready for your question. It’s in the ready position.
Here’s how to program your pendulum.
Hold the chain of the pendulum with your fingers and let it hang. Swing it to create movement. Then, in your mind or out loud, repeat the following: “Higher Self please show me my YES response.” Your pendulum will start to swing in a specific direction. This direction is your YES response. Some people find that their pendulum swings up and down for YES; others find that their pendulum swings back and forth; and yet others find that their YES response is a circular clockwise or counter clockwise motion. The movement of your YES response is unique to you, so don’t get distracted by thinking that your pendulum has to swing in a certain direction to work effectively.
Continue to perform this process for each of the five answers.
3. Ask a Question.
Once your pendulum is programmed and you feel like “you’ve got it,” then think of a question. Just before you ask for a response, use your pendulum to ask for permission. Remember, it is always important to ask for permission to dowse:
May I? May I dowse for this particular question?
Can I? Can I dowse for this particular question?
Should I? Should I dowse for this particular question?
If you get a NO response for any of these three questions, it’s best to stop, or rephrase your question so that you get three YES responses. For example, you never want to dowse for someone else without permission, make medical diagnoses, foretell the future, or perhaps interfere with someone’s free will.
After you are “in the clear,” then practice dowsing with very basic questions until you get a “feel” for using your pendulum. You can start with questions as simple as, “Is my name Tina Sacchi?” The obvious answer is YES. If your pendulum swings in any other direction than YES, keep trying until it the YES response comes through for you.

Healthy body, Healthy mind
There is a lot of truth in that saying, especially for people in business. I think most people would agree that you need a healthy mind to do business. Trying to run a business with a confused and negative mind is like trying to climb a hill in high heels.
But how many of you would agree that a Healthy body would help you run your business more efficiently. After all we see people running well performing businesses that smoke, drink to an excess or are highly over-weight.
So what’s all the fuss about being healthy?
It could have something to do with living a bit longer. Well, you may say, I know a successful business person who never looked after his health, smoked, drank to excess and had a very bad diet, he is 65 years old now and still going.
Firstly.
The question is……how is he going, you are probably not aware of half his illnesses. So the question is not really about….how long you live, it’s about what is the quality of your life later on.
Secondly
Once you have something going wrong with you, like having a heart attack, how well does your body cope with the medication you now have to take for the rest of your life. Because being on medication can sometimes be worse than having the actual illness.
True Story
I was one of those business guys that felt that I was invincible. Must say I never smoked and did not drink to excess, but I ate everything and anything that was nice, never really considering the effects it may have on my health, especially having a fair amount of business stress and inherent heart disease in the family.
About 10 years ago, we owned a franchised lunch bar in Perth WA. One morning I had a heart attack in the shop and as a consequence I was required to take prescribed medications every day.
Initially I was OK, but a few years down the track I was steadily going down hill. I always felt tired, had sleep disturbance (nightmares), started having memory loss, got very grumpy over small things and worst of all, I lost my motivation. At first I thought I was just getting old, then I started suspecting my medication.
I spoke to my heart specialist and he agreed it might be side effects of the prescribed medication I was taking. He prescribed some different ones, tried different dosages, but nothing seemed to make a difference. At this point I did some research on my medication and was quite amazed at the possible future other health hazards they posed, not to mention the current side effects I was experiencing.
About five years ago I wanted to see if there were any alternatives for me. A business associate told me about this Company that supplies a range of high quality cellular nutrition products. Anyway, (with the blessing of my heart specialist) I tried the products in conjunction with my prescribed medication and after a few months I started feeling energetic and motivated again. It turned out that some of the medication I was taking was actually reducing some of the body’s natural elements like CoQ10 for example. Which by the way is a very important element for heart health and energy. No wonder I was always tired.
Don’t fall into the trap of saying, well it will never happen to me. If I knew then what I know now I would have changed my life style a bit, no I don’t suggest you eat and live like a monk, but at least watch your diet.
Are All Foods Equal?
But keep in mind most of our foods today are over processed and so called fresh vegetables are actually held 3 to 6 months in coolers, which inevitably destroys a big part of the natural vitamins and minerals in them. It would thus be a good idea to consider taking some high quality supplements to make sure your body gets the right nutrition.

I was driving to my office today and noticed, as John Mayer was singing to me once again about heartbreak…big surprise there, that every day the same tree catches my eye. Now, I pass by a million trees every day but this one is different. This tree is regal. This tree might even be considered majestic. It’s huge and beautiful, and its trunk looks about as broad as the farm tractor that is creeping along in front of me, keeping me from traveling at a pace that’s even approaching the speed limit.
No, I don’t live on a farm. We have Starbucks, Wal-Mart, a mall, a slew of chain restaurants, and even a number of cafés where I can sip some tea and write these updates during my breaks from people watching. If you wanted to see a farm, however, I could show you one. Smack in the middle of this small but growing Midwest town is a whisper of something left behind from every decade this place has seen for the last hundred and fifty years. Two towns over the Amish still attempt to navigate their horses and buggies on the same streets with cars and delivery trucks, and only a few minutes away is Notre Dame and all the youthfulness and excitement that accompanies a college town. It’s actually quite strange.
I thought about the storms that tree has seen here during its lifetime. The Midwest can be very unforgiving when it comes to the weather. I imagined it enduring the wind, rain, snow, ice, hail, and extremes in heat and cold this area encounters. I saw it in my mind being tossed around as high winds and pelting rain have tried to bend it and break it in two. Through it all, it is still standing, still regal.
This made me think about the storms in my own life and in the lives of the people around me. Everyone seems to have them. Money problems, failing marriages, estranged relationships, troubled children, job stress, health challenges, death, loss, change, worry, fear, and the list could go on forever, and they all take their toll. These are the equivalent in our lives of the wind, rain, etc., that pummels the tree and tries to break it in half.
I wondered what I could learn from that tree. What did it have to teach me?
Does the tree begin to question its life during the storms? Is there something that the cosmos is trying to teach it? Is it being punished for its actions or thoughts? Is some force in the world picking on it or testing it, trying to make it a stronger or more obedient tree? I think we would have to agree on a big fat no here. The storms are just doing what they do. They are being storms. The tree can’t stop them, and they happen to all trees. No other tree is exempt. No other tree bears a bigger brunt of the storms. It’s just part of being a tree.
So what about my own storms? They come regardless of where I live, who I love, my religious beliefs, my political affiliations, my professional ties, and my family relationships. It doesn’t matter if I am a good person or a murderer, whether I am a Christian, Muslim, or Jew, or if I spend my life helping others or lying on my couch all day watching daytime TV. The storms are going to come.
And we all endure them. We cannot stop the storms. The only thing we can do is choose how to react to them. And if we pay close attention to the tree we might learn that we don’t even have to react at all. All we have to do is be flexible. The elements will rip at us, push us around, and try to tear us up from our roots, but if we bend we will not break. It is only if the tree did not give enough, could not bend enough, that it would break in half. Only if it was rigid and unyielding would the storm destroy it. And so it is with us.
This yielding to the storm allows the tree to remain at peace with the world. No matter what comes its way, it stands tall and bends according to the ferocity of the assault. The stronger the attack, the more it surrenders.
The only power the storms in our lives have is the power we allow them to have over us.
There is nothing new under the sun, and every battle we face has been fought by others before us. As a matter of fact, if I were able to put the problems of everyone I know into a hat and pick some new ones I would probably be hoping to get mine back out again.
So as we go about our day, let us remember that everyone we pass on the street, and everyone we share the roads with, and everyone we interact with in even the slightest way, are all facing their own storms. We are all alike in this way. Let us be conscious of this fact and do our best to not add to the wind and rain they endure. And if we can, see if we can plant ourselves in their lives in such a way to shield them just a little, give them a little rest, and say, “I too am enduring the storms of life. I know what it’s like. I will stand with you and we will be strong together”.
Until next time friends,

Mind Body Medicine is a well-respected, practical blending of “Western” medical traditions, along with “Eastern.” Mind/Body Medicine was first pioneered by Dr. Herbert Benson at Harvard Medical School beginning in the mid-70s. Dr. Benson was most well-known for popularizing the “Relaxation Response,” a simple form of stress relief and self meditation.
Mind Body Medicine is dedicated to broadening conventional medical wisdom to more routinely include the many practical, easy and inexpensive practices espoused in his version of Mind-Body Medicine. Dr. Benson and his colleagues at Harvard demonstrated conclusively through scientific research that stress reduction could vastly improve health on many different levels.
The Whole Person Approach
Mind/Body medicine considers the entire, integrated person. Traditional medicine as practiced in Western culture tends to segment the body into individual systems and pieces. In other words, doctors are taught to look at their patients as a composite of parts: the endocrine system, the cardiovascular system, the respiratory system, the digestive system, the nervous system and so forth.
Psychology is a completely different branch of medicine and is not going to be considered by the cardiologist examining your arteriogram.
Honestly, that’s a real logical approach; most illnesses do seem to affect primarily one organ or system.
At least, that’s how it manifests at first glance.
What Dr. Howard Benson realized was that life affects the whole person. Of course, medical schools certainly teach that how well the endocrine system works affects how well the cardiovascular system works but they really don’t teach that STRESS (life) affects them all.
Stress is hard to measure with any medical instrument so many doctors ignore it.
Stress, emotions, fears, hassles, relationship and family issues, habits, social pressures, traditional science-based medicine has a hard time working any of that stuff into a diagnosis.
Those who practice Mind-Body medicine realize that if you can manage life’s stresses, you can better manage your health.
For optimum health, examining the entire mind-body-spirit is essential but unfortunately all too often ignored.

Many people are making resolutions in their life, many of which are health-related ones like losing weight, stop smoking or join the fitness club. Normally, people set high goals, however setting smaller goals could do more for our health. Setting smaller goals are less overwhelming and easier to fit into our daily routine than big and abrupt change.
Take a closer look at these easy steps to improve your health:
Stop gaining weight because gaining a pound or two every year will make an extra weight.
Take small steps at a time. Use a pedometer to count your daily calories.
Eat breakfast because breakfast eaters tend to weigh less and have better overall diet.
Try switching to whole grain.
Include in your diet plan a green salad every day. Eating a salad with low-fat or fat-free dressing is filling and may help you eat less during the meal. Don’t forget your five cups of vegetables and fruits daily.
Go easy with food that contains a lot of fat. Fat has a lot of calories which can affect your diet. Buy lean meats, eat poultry without the skin, switch to lower-fat cheeses or use a nonstick pan with only a bit of oil or butter when frying.
Take in calcium by including two or three daily servings of low-fat or fat-free milk or yogurt. This is because calcium is good for bones and will help you lose weight.
Try to lose 5 to 10 %o of your current weight. You will have a lot of benefit if you are slim and trim. You will have lower blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol and triglycerides.
Try to keep track of your eating habits. You can write down what you eat over the next couple of days and look for any problem. Normally writing the food that you eat down can help you eat less.
These are easy and simple steps to a new you this year and in the years to come.
