Healthy body, Healthy mind
There is a lot of truth in that saying, especially for people in business. I think most people would agree that you need a healthy mind to do business. Trying to run a business with a confused and negative mind is like trying to climb a hill in high heels.
But how many of you would agree that a Healthy body would help you run your business more efficiently. After all we see people running well performing businesses that smoke, drink to an excess or are highly over-weight.
So what’s all the fuss about being healthy?
It could have something to do with living a bit longer. Well, you may say, I know a successful business person who never looked after his health, smoked, drank to excess and had a very bad diet, he is 65 years old now and still going.
Firstly.
The question is……how is he going, you are probably not aware of half his illnesses. So the question is not really about….how long you live, it’s about what is the quality of your life later on.
Secondly
Once you have something going wrong with you, like having a heart attack, how well does your body cope with the medication you now have to take for the rest of your life. Because being on medication can sometimes be worse than having the actual illness.
True Story
I was one of those business guys that felt that I was invincible. Must say I never smoked and did not drink to excess, but I ate everything and anything that was nice, never really considering the effects it may have on my health, especially having a fair amount of business stress and inherent heart disease in the family.
About 10 years ago, we owned a franchised lunch bar in Perth WA. One morning I had a heart attack in the shop and as a consequence I was required to take prescribed medications every day.
Initially I was OK, but a few years down the track I was steadily going down hill. I always felt tired, had sleep disturbance (nightmares), started having memory loss, got very grumpy over small things and worst of all, I lost my motivation. At first I thought I was just getting old, then I started suspecting my medication.
I spoke to my heart specialist and he agreed it might be side effects of the prescribed medication I was taking. He prescribed some different ones, tried different dosages, but nothing seemed to make a difference. At this point I did some research on my medication and was quite amazed at the possible future other health hazards they posed, not to mention the current side effects I was experiencing.
About five years ago I wanted to see if there were any alternatives for me. A business associate told me about this Company that supplies a range of high quality cellular nutrition products. Anyway, (with the blessing of my heart specialist) I tried the products in conjunction with my prescribed medication and after a few months I started feeling energetic and motivated again. It turned out that some of the medication I was taking was actually reducing some of the body’s natural elements like CoQ10 for example. Which by the way is a very important element for heart health and energy. No wonder I was always tired.
Don’t fall into the trap of saying, well it will never happen to me. If I knew then what I know now I would have changed my life style a bit, no I don’t suggest you eat and live like a monk, but at least watch your diet.
Are All Foods Equal?
But keep in mind most of our foods today are over processed and so called fresh vegetables are actually held 3 to 6 months in coolers, which inevitably destroys a big part of the natural vitamins and minerals in them. It would thus be a good idea to consider taking some high quality supplements to make sure your body gets the right nutrition.
