Social Bookmark sites or Social Network sites are in my opinion the same thing. At the time of this writing, the most famous is “Twitter.” You probably already know or heard about it one way or another. Turn on the news and you’ll hear of someone who made, what is known as a “Tweet” on Twitter. The terminology sounds ridiculous at first, but after getting accustom it’ll seem natural. This is a legitimate media form and everything pans out as normal.
Major corporations are now on the band wagon, so to speak. Social Bookmark sites may now have more viewers then conventional television. The reason for this is probably due to the interaction available. Conventional TV offers no interaction. You merely watch the screen and input nothing with TV. Apparently people get enthused and enthralled over being able to make an input. Statistics show that the CTR (click through rate) is twice as much as convention email marketing and other marketing methods.
People will be social and write about the most minute things on these sites. Personally speaking, I get no kick out of writing to the world about what I had for lunch. Maybe there’s a little tingle at the thought of inspiring someone to a better their way of life.
Social Networking was originally designed for being social and has been adapted for marketing. Blatantly selling things on these sites will be frowned upon. A savvy marketer acquires a lot of friends then skillfully implies “go to my link.” This is where CTR comes into effect.
You should definitely complete your profile. Each site has a section that allows you to identify yourself. This is usually called the “profile.” The general public will have access to read it, unless you specify otherwise. Things like name address, favorite food, movies, poetry and generally what ever you want to say can be displayed in your profile. Your photo can usually be uploaded and an avatar, which is a small picture ( usually of cartoon nature ) can most likely be uploaded to your profile. The beauty in Social Bookmarking is it’s connection to major search engines.
Certain Social Book marking sites get indexed practically minute by minute. It’s common practice for search engines to index articles on social bookmarking sites, regardless of any SEO practice. It’s important to submit your articles to sites with high popularity rating. The search engines favor those sites. Ultimately the most important thing to focus on, in my opinion is the “TITLE.” When you post on a Social Bookmark, it behooves you to have a title that is descript and somewhat in demand.
Friends are an easy issue on these type of sites. Acquiring too many friends, with in a short amount of time can make you seem fraudulent. It’s always good to moderately acquire friends. It’s different for each site. Check to see what the average growth is for acquiring new friends. Somewhere around 10 friends per day is likely, but don’t quote me as sites vary.
