Selecting Video Keywords

A very important “must do” whenever you upload a video into YouTube is selecting keywords for your video. Specify keywords that will identify your video for searchers on the YouTube search engine and in Google, the owner of YouTube, case you didn’t know. The correct keywords will boost the rankings of your videos in web searches.

The following are tips on how to select the correct keywords:

  • 1. Search words are terms that your target audience is likely to use when searching for media belonging to the same general classification as your video. So get to know your audience; think of what they might type into the search box to find content like yours. One or two keywords will be good.
  • 2. Use those keywords in the title of your video, the description that you will supply for it and in the back links to your site if any.

Additionally, to make your video readily available from anywhere on the internet, embed it into a web page. You can take advantage of the Meta tags on web pages to further SEO-optimize your video. You can as well create your web page title, description and content with those keywords. Obviously, you may add some more keywords if your video is on a web page.

Make use of video transcripts to further make your video search-friendly. Use keywords in the transcript. These are descriptions of what viewers might hope to find in segments of your video. The segments are designated in minutes:seconds format. If you want to find out more about video submissions and transcripts click into Google Video
